Midnight, 11 degrees, 6″ snow pack…Time to ride!

Many sleepy residents of Steamboat Springs are unaware of the excitement awiting them out on the trails between dusk and dawn. They may wonder why lights can be seen high above town traversing the mountainscape late into the cold nights. Each Thursday, a dedicated group of riders, between one and 17 strong gather and experience our favorite, familiar trails in a whole new light (mostly LED lights). The darkness can hide the steep climbs ahead, making the climb more bearable, while allowing a rider to become lost in seemingly endless, dizzying descents. Time is warped as hours turn to miles and miles of twisty fun.
The Season is quickly passing and only the most stubborn bikers are braving below freezing temps, frozen mud, ice and snow that transform dirt paths into full on luge courses. This week it was only Essam(Orange Peel) and Chad(Eriksen Cycles) who enjoyed frosty cold beers at the Quarry, overlooking the quiet town of ours, before descending wildly back down to the valley floor!
